YUNNAN : VIETNAM RAILWAY HISTORY

Visit of Green Lake and the Birds and Flowers market. This walk will lead you to the remaining old areas in Kunming. You will then enjoy a nice rest while relaxing in a tea house, where you will discover Yunnan pu'er tea and the tea ceremony that goes with the serving of it.

Transfert to Hekou, on the frontier with Vietnam.

Today, we will drive up to Yuanyang region. On the way, we will stop to different minorities villages and will attend Niujiaozhai & Huangmaoling markets. Sunset on Bada rice fields. Hôtel : Yunti Hotel 3*

According to the day, visit of Shengcun market and its beautiful displays of ethnic costumes from Yi and Hani minorities. Walk in the village. Return to Yuanyang for our lunch. In the afternoon, hike in the rice terraces and villages of this wonderful region. We will go back to Yuanyang in the evening and enjoy the sunset in Laohuzui.

We will attend Yuanyang Xinjie market nearby the hotel, before heading to Mengzi.

The day will be dedicated to the discovery of the heritage left along the railway and around km 400, including the famous RenZiTiao crossbow bridge, and the undoubtedly French train station of BiSeZhai.

Today we will reach Jianshui region, a lovely old Chinese small town. Visit of the big Confucius monastery, of Jianshui old town, of Zhang family's beautiful and traditional-style residence and finally of the Double Dragon Bridge.

Drive to Kunming with a stop to the Mongol village of Xingmeng. We will have lunch on our arrival to Kunming, followed by the visit of the museum dedicated to the famous railway built by the French. To end your trip, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a nice diner in the good restaurant named « 1910, la Gare du Sud » (1910, Southern station), built in the waiting room of the old train station of Kunming, today destroyed. The diner will be followed by a wonderful show, « Dynamic Yunnan », displaying dances and songs of Yunnan ethnic minorities.
